Chris’ passion for music was fueled early on by his older brothers, who kept a constant soundtrack of now legendary artists pumping through the house: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, The Doors, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, etc… As a teen, he purchased his first drumset, and soon found himself jamming in local garages with his middle school mates, cutting his teeth on covers from some of his biggest personal influences; Judas Priest, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Ozzy and other hard rocking heroes of the day.
A Seattle native, he relocated to Los Angeles in '89 and attended Musicians Institute, Hollywood, in pursuit of becoming a more well-rounded drummer. While attending MI, he also assumed a staff Audio Engineering position with the school’s Production Department, managing visiting guest artists and crafting both live and studio mixes for their performances. This exposed him to a diverse variety of musical styles and personalities, working with the likes of Al DiMeola, Billy Sheehan, Kirk Hammett, Paul Gilbert, Cheap Trick, John Entwistle, Chick Corea, as well as drum legends Tommy Aldridge, Terry Bozzio, Dave Weckl, Carmine Appice, to name a mere few…
Chris has performed all over Los Angeles in bands that varied stylistically and kept his skill-set well honed: Metal, Blues Rock, Alternative, Hard Rock, Country. While perusing musician want ads by-chance in Dec. ’10, he came across a listing that caught his eye – four like-minded vets with similar influences that happened to rehearse right around the corner. As it turned out, he was the first to audition and they wound up cancelling the rest of the auditions that they had lined up – and the rest is indeed history as he and STONEBREED make their mark on the world.
